The store is also SewGreen's primary drop-off place for donations, which help us run and expand our programs. New Spring hours are 11 - 6, Monday through Saturday.

Green T Campaign
Reduce. Reuse. Reconsider your promotional t-shirt purchases. If your organization buys t-shirts, you need to know the real story about conventional cotton and the clothing glut in the U.S.

"ReMake a T" workshops
Create a new fashion, bag, laptop cozy, pillow cover etc., using just scissors and recycled t-shirts. We'll come to your class or group to present this easy, hands-on activity that also promotes sustainable style.

GOT SURPLUS T SHIRTS? We'll find a use for clean, unwanted cotton Ts. Contact us for details.

A Thousand Reusable Bags
More than a thousand reusable tote bags were completed by the sewing community in Tompkins County and beyond, as part of a collaboration with Energy Independent Caroline. Sewing enthusiasts from beginners to experts, including Girl Scouts, 4H-ers, and a treadle machine user who zoomed through about 40 bags at a sew-in, made this experiment in "anonymous generosity" a success.

Student volunteers helped prepare the bags for distribution.

A bag containing a compact fluourescent light bulb and a small packet of literature was delivered by vounteers from Cornell University, Ithaca College, and the local community to each household in the town of Caroline NY on April 19. The project, called "Lighten Up Caroline" was made possible by grant funding from Cornell and others. SewGreen provided 1,010 of the needed 1,400 bags.
